The skill bar gets 'frozen' when not enough energy, and will continue to charge when either your natural energy regeneration, or external one gives you more qi. You can either make them basic energy gathering formation, or even higher one, to begin your cultivation propelly. Skills, as all things, require energy, aka qi.

The bar appears when skill is being charged, and some skills take more time, some take less time to charge and get cast. Skills get 'released' aka cast, when the blue bar that appears over EXP bar gets filled, and resets. You can switch between chosen skills with and by default, and activate them by holding by default.

You have already learned how to choose skills you have, from the skill tab. Then press and choose which of the 3 types of cultivation you want to start off with(body, divine, essence). Then proceed to tab, and choose all 3 cultivation skills that have appeared. Then proceed to right click the orange meditating guy in upper right corner, so that he turns grey. When you have right clicked the techniques to learn them, press the button (K), as it is the default introspection hotkey.

Once you have found 3 techniques, one for body, one for essence, and one for divine(soul) you can proceed to cultivate. This is to gain items called 'techniques'. Easiest way to grind them is to make 2x1 hole(2 tall 1 wide) and drop them there, or othervise trap them, and proceed to bonk them to death. You should NOT touch revolving core or above cultivators as they will whoop you to oblivion. You should only touch mortal essence level Wandering cultivators, although essence gathering and maybe even essence consolidation are possible. Now that you have found Exteme qi, you need to start grinding the wandering cultivators. There is quite the few benefits to Extreme Qi biomes, but those are to be listed somewhere else. Only Wandering Cultivator mobs spawn here. It is easily noticeable by the massive mountains and clear grass. To start off, you need to find so called 'Extreme Qi' biome. a word of warning for your safety: DO NOT EAT WHAT YOU DONT KNOW THE EFFECTS OR STRENGHT OF!!!!!
